Please join the LD4 Book Club for its very special last meeting of the year on Thursday, December 1 at 5:00pm with the author of Securing Borders Securing Power/ The Rise and Decline of Arizona's Border Policy, Mike Slaven. Mike, who will  be zooming in from England, is a senior lecturer in international politics at the University of Lincoln and was previously a speechwriter for the U.S secretary of homeland security and the governor of Arizona. The book has been called, " an illuminating account of one of the most disturbing events in the recent history of nativist politics in the United States, which opened a new era of anti-immigrant policy making and political activism." Changing Hands featured Mike and this book at one of its events several months ago. We are so lucky to have him! 

This book is a perfect follow-up to the powerful presentation we saw at our September meeting on the dire situation immigrants face at our border and the efforts of organizations such as the California -Arizona Humanitarian Coalition to ease their journey. LD4's 2022 December holiday drive will support this organization. You will hear more soon about the specific needs of the CAHC.
